New Real Estate Agent Habits-BHHS Homesale Realty Careers

As you begin your new career in real estate, it's important to establish yourself and your agency as the best in the business.  This is why Homesale Realty puts a premium focus on giving you the tools and expertise you need to be successful in your new field, but what exactly makes a real estate agent truly successful?

It's easy to measure success with the tangibles such as sales, volume, and client base, but the intangibles establish agents and make them successful in their day-to-day dealings. With that said, there are some routine habits that make real estate agents truly successful in what they do.

  1. Take Time for Yourself
One habit all highly successful people share, real estate agents included, is that they take time for themselves. Real estate, in its busiest form, is a fast-paced, sometimes hectic, and very busy field often with odd hours and little downtime. Start your day by taking some time for yourself.

We recommend getting up early and using your mornings (when the rest of the world is otherwise asleep) for the things you would tend to lose time for as the day goes on.  Many successful agents will use their personal morning time for meditation, yoga, exercise, reading, or generally bettering themselves before the sun comes up.

  2. Get to Your Office Early
On another early morning note, during your busiest times, get to your office a few minutes early.  Getting to your desk 15 minutes before the day begins will give you the opportunity to settle into your day, prioritize your daily tasks, and make an overall attack plan for how you're going to handle your schedule.

From there, you can take care of a few quick tasks before the day gets started in earnest.  Reply to some emails, line out the clients you need to call, and take care of some general housekeeping before anyone disturbs you.  Take these few precious moments to get your day started and focused.

  3. Block Off Your Schedule
Your day can easily get away from you if you're not careful. Blocking off your schedule to get things done is often the only way to ensure that you're not overbooked with clients and showings leaving you little time to complete smaller tasks.

In the end, your work has to get done at the end of the day, so blocking off time to reach out to clients, complete administrative tasks and paperwork, and show homes is crucial to keeping things running smoothly.

  4. Take a Lunch Break
It may sound silly, but stopping for lunch is often more of a luxury than it is a necessity at times. Don't get so caught up in your day that you don't take that precious hour to refuel and refresh. No one likes a "hangry" real estate agent!

  5. Take Breaks
Working hour upon hour can be mentally and physically taxing on your body, and if you're a driven task-oriented person it may be extremely difficult to pause what you're doing and take a quick break.

This doesn't have to be a lengthy break. Even a couple of minutes away from your computer or off of the phone is a moment to catch your breath, refocus, and recenter yourself during a busy day. Take this moment for yourself, and you'll be better for it and more efficient throughout your day.
